Ranthambore National Park is open from 1st October to 30th June, closing for monsoon from July to September. Within that window, conditions shift significantly by month.
Quick month-by-month guide
- October–November: Post-monsoon greenery, pleasant weather, sightings improving as the month progresses.
- December–January: Cold mornings (pack warm layers), clearer visibility as foliage thins.
- February–April: Widely considered prime season — water sources shrink, concentrating wildlife near the remaining lakes.
- May–June: Very hot, but the highest sighting probability of the year as animals gather at the last waterholes.
First-time visitors and families often prefer October to February for comfort. Serious wildlife photographers frequently choose March to May for sighting odds, accepting the heat as a trade-off.
